Homeopathy Is The Trend Among Young Women Today. Herbal Medicine

You No longer have to settle for conventional medicine and its predictability, nor do you need to worry any longer about all the side effects of prescription drugs. There are other approaches that you may be unaware of, and they are called complimentary and alternative medicine.

Complementary and Alternative medicine (also known by the abbreviation CAM) has been around for a long time. Many of their practices come from other parts of the world. These two techniques each use the same types of treatments to bring you back to robust good health. But, there are differences in how they are used.

Generally, alternative medicine has been practiced in lieu of conventional medicine. Complementary medicine uses the many types of alternative medicine along with conventional medicine. You can be in charge of your own health decisions, yet still heed the advice of your doctor when you decide to go the complementary and alternative medicine route.

Health centers and traditional hospitals are now incorporating alternative medicine into their available services. it is not uncommon for a doctors visit to include some type of recommendation for alternative therapies like chiropractic treatments for back pain.

Complementary Medicine And Music Therapy For Your overall Health. Herbal Medicine

A recent survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has found an increase in the use of holistic practices with complementary and alternative medicine being used by adults and the children who live in their households. What we are seeing is a trend towards alternative medicine even with adults that have medical insurance coverage.

There are many examples of complementary medicine that probably everyone has tried at least once. Taking a daily multi vitamin can be considered a form of complementary medicine, as you use it along with whatever standard treatments you receive from your doctor. This is a mild form of complementary medicine that would almost always meet with your doctor’s approval.

It is a comforting thought to know that by using complementary and conventional medicine, you have chosen to do something to safeguard your health, all on your own.

Eating healthy foods and exercising are just some of the things a person can do to live a life that is healthy and free from disease. You may have herd the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Avoiding nasty habits like drinking alcohol and smoking is another way to prolong life as well as to improve overall health.

Other than these, taking alternative healing supplements can also make a person healthier because these supplements will clear away the many built up toxins that are present in your body.

There are holistic medicines that help promote the removal of toxins in the body, the renewal of skin cells and the flushing out of harmful substances like cholesterol and fat.
There are also supplements that improve your mental and emotional well-being through the relaxing properties that are used in the supplements.

Since stress is known to be one of the major factors that can cause a person to become sick, the use of stress relieving supplements is also part of a natural health regimen that can keep a person healthy and fit.

Clear Dreaming Is Not All About Dream Control

December 11, 2008 By: admin Category: Focus and Concentration No Comments →

Let’s do the math: we sleep a third of our lifetimes away, and slightly less are dreams. Many say that lucid dreams are the perfect answer to winning back those “squandered” hours. But lucid dreaming scholars would never claim that ordinary dreams are unimportant. Instead, we can envision lucid dreaming as a chance to unfold the significance of the dreams we already have.

The broadest definition of conscious dreaming is to be aware you are dreaming while still in the dream state. The popular assumption that being aware in the dream means you can perfectly control the dream is actually false. Rather, dream control is best achieved as self-control: learning to modulate emotions, attention, and intentionality in the dream. It is especially difficult to control your emotions in the lucid dream state, because fears and other intense feelings quickly come to the fore in lucid dreams.

So most of the talk about “dream control” is actually in defense of these strong emotions. Lucid dreaming scholars, such as cognitive psychologists and psychotherapists, recommend that consciousness in the dream is directed towards these emotional calling cards, rather than against. No wonder dream control sounds so tempting! Awareness is a powerful force, but it can easily be used in defense of self-knowledge. Many cultures use lucid dreaming as a healing practice, and harnessing the emotional substrate of the dream is a key part of the training. To sum it up, focusing on self-control is the best way to learn about the gift of awareness during dreams.

How to Obtain Sharper Focus and Concentration

September 04, 2008 By: admin Category: Focus and Concentration, GoChi No Comments →

How many times has this happened to you? It’s a special occasion, and you’ve somehow managed to secure reservations at the hottest restaurant in town. You’re full of happy anticipation as you drive along the freeway and then suddenly, for no apparent reason, traffic slows to a crawl. After creeping along for what seems like hours, you finally reach the source of the slowdown: a minor “fender bender” in the opposite lanes of traffic. For some reason, hundreds of your fellow drivers had become so distracted by this that they lost focus and concentration, and as a result, you’ve lost your precious dinner reservations!Life certainly provides plenty of distractions, and as the above scenario illustrates, it can be very easy to lose focus. But how do you explain not being able to concentrate when you’re sitting at home or in your office with no outside distractions, and yet you still can’t seem to finish a task that you’ve started? The inability to focus or concentrate affects even the most disciplined of people (with the possible exception of the superhuman Tiger Woods). Here are some reasons why you might be having trouble staying in sharp focus:Inadequate sleep: Many experts recommend 7 to 9 hours of restful sleep daily, and even more for growing kids. And yet, more than 60 million people in the United States experience sleep-related complaints. Many poor sleepers don’t know that they have a problem because their bodies have adjusted. Your body may be willing, but you can’t fool your brain. Brain fatigue will rob you of the focus and concentration you need to perform at your peak.Boredom or lack of interest: Your concentration may be fading simply because you just aren’t interested enough in what you’re supposed to be concentrating on. It can be pretty difficult to muster up enthusiasm for plugging endless numbers into a spreadsheet, or for attacking your daily chores.Stress and frustration: If you’re feeling overwhelmed by difficult or worrisome issues, it can be almost impossible to zone in on one task without being distracted by the weight of your other unfinished business.

Medical causes: Talk to your doctor if you suspect you may be dealing with one of these issues:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD): This disorder involves abnormal brain chemistry, affecting your ability to focus and concentrate. Although usually encountered in children, ADHD can affect adults as well.
  • Thyroid Problems: Although difficult to diagnose, feeling restless and anxious, being unable to concentrate, and having a poor memory could all indicate thyroid trouble.
  • Diabetes: Your brain requires a constant flow of glucose for energy, which it receives from your blood. If your blood sugar levels are elevated or crashing, you’ll be left feeling tired and unable to focus.
  • Depression: When you’re depressed, it can be nearly impossible to think clearly, or to find the energy and motivation to concentrate.

So what can you do to regain sharp focus and concentration? If you have a medical condition, you owe it to yourself to seek professional help. And for the rest of you, try these helpful tips!

  1. Get more sleep. Either get to bed earlier or take a mid-afternoon power nap, and you’ll dissipate that brain fog.
  2. Banish boredom. Research shows that concentration drops after 20 to 30 minutes, so take frequent breaks, making sure to get out of your chair to keep blood flowing to your brain. Bribe yourself with a reward once you finish your task. Treating yourself will feel extra good because you’ll also have the feeling of accomplishment that comes from a job well done.
  3. Get organized. Make sure that you have everything you need to complete the task at hand. If you’re poorly prepared, the extra time and effort needed to get the job done will make you lose focus more easily. Don’t distract yourself by trying to work with the television or radio on, or with your computer’s instant messaging program running.
  4. Write it down. If you can’t get unfinished tasks out of your head, write them down so you’re free to stop obsessing over them. Your to-do list should include an estimate of how much time it will take for each item. That will really help you to prioritize your day.
  5. Fight through frustration to help manage stress. In the same way that champion athletes can get their second wind, you can fight through mental frustration to find renewed focus. From now on, if you’re in the middle of a task and tempted to give up, noted author and lecturer Sam Horn recommends that you just do five more. Read five more pages. Finish five more math problems. Work five more minutes.
  6. Don’t procrastinate. As R.D. Clyde said, “It’s amazing how long it takes to complete something we’re not working on.” Delaying a task will only make it occupy more of your mind and time.
  7. Drink 4 ounces (120 ml) of GoChi™ every day.
